WLS "OG's" and Dating

I will definitely tell someone I am dating early on, especially when we go out to eat (I know the small portions will throw someone off if I don't explain) but I WILL NOT be pulling out any before pics.  I only have one left anyway.  I burnt the rest.

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...

I did not reveal to my THEN Boyfriend (Now Hubby) I  had surgery until we were together about a year.

When you tld him, was he upset that you didn't tell him sooner?Or did he understand?

I didn't reveal it right off the bat, but he figured it out for himself because his sister also had RNY.  He was very supportive, he's seen all of my before pictures and states he would have dated me then too.

Having someone close to him that struggled with weight and had the surgery probably helped him to be more sensitive. What a sweetie to say that he liked your "before"

I'm still fat, but it depends.  If my band is acting up and we are out at a meal-I just fess up.  I don't really feel the need to hide the fact that I had band surgery-if and when a relationship gets physical I'd have to explain the scars-my port scar is pretty noticeable since  I had surgery that used that incision twice.

Right now I'm about the size I was in most of the pics I have displayed at home-actually I look smaller since I've had a breast reduction too.

I dated one guy that made a negative comment when something came on TV about WLS-safe to say that was a big red flag and was my 1st clue he was an ********o that was pretty short lived.

I fear that my weight and maintaining my health will always be a struggle for me, so I usually broach the topic that I'm working on losing weight and exercising pretty early on.  If a guy isn't open or supportive of that there's no need to go further.

I agree! I'm early out but I suspect based on my experience thus far that diet and exerscise are going to have be a big part of my life. Dont' need any haters around!!

Dear Free - Having just celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary last September, I have no "dating" advice.  LOL

My thoughts on the subject are - tell him right away.  If he isn't supportive (and/or is rude and crude) that way you don't have to waste any time on him.  Think "Hallmark" slogan - You DESERVE the very best.

Who ever wins your heart is, indeed, a very very lucky guy.
